### Notification Quota

Each plan includes free notification quotas, calculated **per user per month**. Total quota = per-user allowance × number of Licenses.

| Channel                | Free               | Standard          | Pro                |

<Warning>
  On the Free plan, notifications **stop** once the quota is exhausted. On Standard and Pro plans, additional usage is billed on demand; notifications also stop if the account balance is insufficient.
</Warning>

### License Model Explained

Unlike products such as PagerDuty that charge for **every user**, Flashduty uses a **License (active user)** billing model—only members who need to **view and handle incidents** require a License. Other members can receive alert notifications at no additional cost.

#### Who Needs a License?

| Role                      | License Required? | Explanation                                                              |
| ------------------------- | :---------------: | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| On-call engineers | ✅ | Need to view incident details, acknowledge, and handle incidents |
| Team leads | ✅ | Need to view incidents, configure escalation rules and schedules |
| Notified developers / ops | ❌ | Only need to passively receive notifications, no platform login required |
| Management | ❌ | Can monitor overall status via analytics dashboards or status pages |
| External collaborators | ❌ | Get information through webhooks, email, or status pages |

<Tip>
  **Cost advantage for large teams**: In practice, a 100-person engineering team typically has only 10–20 people who actively handle incidents day-to-day. The rest only need to receive notifications when relevant incidents occur. This means you may only need 10–20 Licenses instead of paying for all 100 people—**reducing costs by 80%–90%**.
</Tip>

#### Why the License Model?

Traditional per-user pricing (like PagerDuty) requires purchasing a seat for every user who receives notifications, which creates two problems in practice:

1. **Wasted spend**: Most team members only need to receive notifications when incidents occur—they never log in to view or handle incidents—yet each still requires a full-price seat
2. **Insufficient notification coverage**: To control costs, organizations often limit who receives notifications, causing critical information to miss key stakeholders

Flashduty's License model decouples **incident handling capability** from **notification delivery**:

* **Members with a License**: Full permissions to view, handle, and configure incidents
* **Members without a License**: Can passively receive all alert notifications (email, SMS, voice call, IM), share the tenant's notification quota, ensuring information reaches everyone who needs it

This approach ensures comprehensive notification coverage while significantly reducing total cost of ownership.

#### License Types

<Tabs>
  <Tab title="Fixed License">
    * **Permanently valid** within the purchase period
    * **Cannot be preempted**
    * **Administrators** can grant fixed Licenses to members
    * Suitable for members who need to handle incidents and configure business settings
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Temporary License">
    * **Permanently valid** within the purchase period
    * **Automatically released** at the end of each cycle
    * **Administrators** can grant temporary Licenses to members
    * Can be occupied through assignment or preemption when sufficient Licenses are available
    * Suitable for members who participate temporarily or use occasionally
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

#### Permissions for Members Without License

<Warning>
  Members without a License have limited functionality and can only passively receive alert messages.

| View incidents            | ❌ Cannot view incident list/details                                 |
| Handle incidents | ❌ Cannot acknowledge, close, or perform other operations |
| Receive notifications | ✅ Can passively receive alert messages (email, SMS, voice call, IM) |
| Escalation rule reference | ✅ Can be added as notification targets in escalation rules |
| Notification quota | ✅ Shares the tenant's email, SMS, and phone call quota |

## Payment and Top-up

***

The Payment center is available on SaaS only — On-Premises deployments do not expose this entry. Open **Payment** from the left navigation: the page is titled **Billing** and contains the **Top up** and **Transactions** tabs. The same menu also leads to **Plan** and **Expense overview**.

### What makes up your balance

**Available balance = Cash balance + Bonus balance − Frozen amount**. The frozen amount covers in-flight orders; it is not actually consumed and becomes usable once the order is released.

### Top-up channels

The **Top up** tab offers three channels:

| Channel                | Description                                                                        | Currency                     |
| ---------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------- |
| **Online payment** | Alipay or Stripe, credited in real time | CNY, USD |
| **Corporate transfer** | Bank wire transfer, credited in about 1 business day | CNY |
| **Cloud market** | Order against your existing cloud budget through your existing procurement process | CNY top-up, USD subscription |

Under **Online payment** you can choose **Alipay** (settled in CNY, any amount) or **Stripe** (international credit and debit cards).

* **Alipay**: preset amounts ¥100 / ¥300 / ¥500 / ¥1,000 / ¥3,000 / ¥5,000, or a custom amount between 0.01 and 100,000 CNY with up to two decimals.
* **Stripe**: charged in USD. Preset amounts come from the server (default $50 / $100 / $200 / $500 / \$1,000); custom amounts range from 0.5 to 10,000 USD with up to two decimals. The charge is credited to your balance at a **fixed exchange rate** (1 USD = 7 CNY by default, set per deployment), and each USD option shows the exact CNY credit rather than an estimate.
* The Stripe channel only appears when payment credentials are configured on the server; otherwise Alipay is the only online option.
* **The default selected channel follows the interface language**: Alipay on the Chinese UI, Stripe on other languages. Either can be switched before you submit.

### Saving a card and automatic charging

Paying with Stripe once saves that card. From then on, **the system charges the card automatically when your balance is short at renewal**, and you can remove the card at any time from **Available balance**. How automatic charging works:

* **There is no separate on/off switch**: as long as a valid card is saved and no stop condition applies, a short balance at renewal is charged automatically
* **Charged amount**: the renewal shortfall (fee minus current balance, including a negative balance from usage), rounded up to a whole US dollar
* **Rate limit**: at most one automatic charge per account every 24 hours
* **Stop condition**: automatic charging stops after 3 consecutive failures, and the page reports "Failed N times in a row". Top up with Stripe once again to replace the card
* **Deleting the card**: go to **Available balance → Automation → Automatic charging** and choose **Delete card**. Renewals no longer charge automatically afterwards; top up with Stripe again to bind a new card. This requires the **Payment management** permission
* On the Chinese UI the **Automatic charging** row stays hidden until a card is actually bound; other languages always show it with a binding entry

### Low balance alert

Turn on **Available balance → Automation → Low balance alert** and set a threshold. When your available balance drops below it, you are notified by **SMS and email**. The threshold must be at least 1; turning the alert off also clears the threshold. This setting requires the **Payment management** permission.

### Ordering from a cloud marketplace

Cloud market supports **Aliyun Marketplace**, **Huawei Cloud Marketplace**, **China Telecom Cloud Marketplace (Lanyun)** and **AWS Marketplace**, in three steps:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Copy your Account ID">
    Copy your **Account ID** on the top-up page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Place the order in the marketplace">
    **Paste the Account ID into the order remark when you check out** — it is the only basis on which the platform can credit the order back to your account. A missing remark means the credit will not land.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Wait for it to take effect">
    Orders usually take effect within 1 business day, and the credit then appears under **Transactions**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  An AWS Marketplace purchase grants On-call **seats only** and **does not add to your account balance**. The binding completes automatically after checkout, so no Account ID remark is needed, and the subscription **can be neither upgraded nor downgraded once bound** — buy the number of seats you need in one order.
</Note>

### Corporate transfer

Choosing **Corporate transfer** shows the receiving account name, bank and account number. **Include your Account ID in the transfer remark**, otherwise the payment cannot be matched to your account. Transfers usually land within 1 business day.

### Transactions and invoices

The **Transactions** tab lists **Time**, **Type**, **Description**, **Amount**, **Invoice** and **Balance** for every entry, where the balance is broken down into **Cash** and **Bonus**. Income covers **Top up**; expenses cover **Order**, **Usage**, **Refund** and **Withdraw**.

* Charges the system makes from your saved card are described as an automatic top-up, distinct from a Stripe top-up you start yourself
* The **Invoice** column only links to an invoice that has already been issued for a Stripe top-up. Alipay, corporate transfer and cloud market orders require an invoice form; an electronic VAT special invoice is issued by default
* For urgent handling or invoicing, submit the form from **Apply for invoice** below the balance card

## FAQ

***

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="How does On-call calculate active users?">
    Members who use commercial features (viewing or handling incidents) within the month are counted as active users. **Receiving alert notifications alone does not count as active usage.** At the end of each monthly cycle:

    * Fixed Licenses remain valid
    * Temporary Licenses are automatically released
    * When a member is deleted, their License is automatically released
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How many Licenses does my team need?">
    Only members who need to **log in to the platform to view incident details, acknowledge, and handle incidents** require a License. Members who only receive alert notifications do not need one.

    **How to estimate**: Count the core personnel in your team who participate in daily on-call and incident response, typically:

    * Frontline on-call engineers
    * Team leads involved in incident handling
    * Administrators who configure escalation rules and schedules on the platform

    **Real-world example**: For a 100-person engineering team, typically only 10–20 people need to log in and handle incidents daily. The remaining 80–90 people only need to receive notifications when relevant incidents occur. Therefore, you only need 10–20 Licenses, **saving 80%–90% compared to paying for every team member**.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What can members without a License do?">
    * **Can**: Passively receive alert messages (email, SMS, voice call, IM), be referenced as notification targets in escalation rules, share tenant notification quota
    * **Cannot**: View/handle incidents, perform any platform configuration operations

    In escalation rules, you can choose to notify members without a License about incidents, but they cannot perform any operations on the incident. This means you can include your entire team in the notification scope without purchasing a License for every person.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How are RUM sessions calculated?">
    * **Session Analysis**: Each complete session of a user visiting the application, including page views, resource loads, errors, etc.
    * **Session Replay**: Sessions that record user behavior for replaying user interactions

    Both are billed independently based on the actual number of sessions generated.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is private deployment supported?">
    Yes. Flashduty offers an **On-Premises** edition with all Pro features, plus:

    * Local data storage
    * Internal system integration
    * No public network dependency

    <Warning>
      Private deployment has higher maintenance costs and a different pricing model than SaaS. Unless you have specific requirements, we recommend using the cloud service.
    </Warning>

  <Accordion title="Is a free trial available?">
    Yes. The On-call Pro plan offers a free trial with full access to all Pro features. Contact our sales team to request a trial.
