License Model Explained
Unlike products such as PagerDuty that charge for every user, Flashduty uses a License (active user) billing model—only members who need to view and handle incidents require a License. Other members can receive alert notifications at no additional cost.Who Needs a License?
Why the License Model?
Traditional per-user pricing (like PagerDuty) requires purchasing a seat for every user who receives notifications, which creates two problems in practice:- Wasted spend: Most team members only need to receive notifications when incidents occur—they never log in to view or handle incidents—yet each still requires a full-price seat
- Insufficient notification coverage: To control costs, organizations often limit who receives notifications, causing critical information to miss key stakeholders
- Members with a License: Full permissions to view, handle, and configure incidents
- Members without a License: Can passively receive all alert notifications (email, SMS, voice call, IM), share the tenant’s notification quota, ensuring information reaches everyone who needs it
License Types
- Fixed License
- Temporary License
- Permanently valid within the purchase period
- Cannot be preempted
- Administrators can grant fixed Licenses to members
- Suitable for members who need to handle incidents and configure business settings

Payment and Top-up
The Payment center is available on SaaS only — On-Premises deployments do not expose this entry. Open Payment from the left navigation: the page is titled Billing and contains the Top up and Transactions tabs. The same menu also leads to Plan and Expense overview.
What makes up your balance
Available balance = Cash balance + Bonus balance − Frozen amount. The frozen amount covers in-flight orders; it is not actually consumed and becomes usable once the order is released.Top-up channels
The Top up tab offers three channels:
Under Online payment you can choose Alipay (settled in CNY, any amount) or Stripe (international credit and debit cards).
- Alipay: preset amounts ¥100 / ¥300 / ¥500 / ¥1,000 / ¥3,000 / ¥5,000, or a custom amount between 0.01 and 100,000 CNY with up to two decimals.
- Stripe: charged in USD. Preset amounts come from the server (default 100 / 500 / $1,000); custom amounts range from 0.5 to 10,000 USD with up to two decimals. The charge is credited to your balance at a fixed exchange rate (1 USD = 7 CNY by default, set per deployment), and each USD option shows the exact CNY credit rather than an estimate.
- The Stripe channel only appears when payment credentials are configured on the server; otherwise Alipay is the only online option.
- The default selected channel follows the interface language: Alipay on the Chinese UI, Stripe on other languages. Either can be switched before you submit.
Saving a card and automatic charging
Paying with Stripe once saves that card. From then on, the system charges the card automatically when your balance is short at renewal, and you can remove the card at any time from Available balance. How automatic charging works:- There is no separate on/off switch: as long as a valid card is saved and no stop condition applies, a short balance at renewal is charged automatically
- Charged amount: the renewal shortfall (fee minus current balance, including a negative balance from usage), rounded up to a whole US dollar
- Rate limit: at most one automatic charge per account every 24 hours
- Stop condition: automatic charging stops after 3 consecutive failures, and the page reports “Failed N times in a row”. Top up with Stripe once again to replace the card
- Deleting the card: go to Available balance → Automation → Automatic charging and choose Delete card. Renewals no longer charge automatically afterwards; top up with Stripe again to bind a new card. This requires the Payment management permission
- On the Chinese UI the Automatic charging row stays hidden until a card is actually bound; other languages always show it with a binding entry
Low balance alert
Turn on Available balance → Automation → Low balance alert and set a threshold. When your available balance drops below it, you are notified by SMS and email. The threshold must be at least 1; turning the alert off also clears the threshold. This setting requires the Payment management permission.Ordering from a cloud marketplace
Cloud market supports Aliyun Marketplace, Huawei Cloud Marketplace, China Telecom Cloud Marketplace (Lanyun) and AWS Marketplace, in three steps:1
Copy your Account ID
Copy your Account ID on the top-up page.
2
Place the order in the marketplace
Paste the Account ID into the order remark when you check out — it is the only basis on which the platform can credit the order back to your account. A missing remark means the credit will not land.
3
Wait for it to take effect
Orders usually take effect within 1 business day, and the credit then appears under Transactions.
An AWS Marketplace purchase grants On-call seats only and does not add to your account balance. The binding completes automatically after checkout, so no Account ID remark is needed, and the subscription can be neither upgraded nor downgraded once bound — buy the number of seats you need in one order.
Corporate transfer
Choosing Corporate transfer shows the receiving account name, bank and account number. Include your Account ID in the transfer remark, otherwise the payment cannot be matched to your account. Transfers usually land within 1 business day.Transactions and invoices
The Transactions tab lists Time, Type, Description, Amount, Invoice and Balance for every entry, where the balance is broken down into Cash and Bonus. Income covers Top up; expenses cover Order, Usage, Refund and Withdraw.- Charges the system makes from your saved card are described as an automatic top-up, distinct from a Stripe top-up you start yourself
- The Invoice column only links to an invoice that has already been issued for a Stripe top-up. Alipay, corporate transfer and cloud market orders require an invoice form; an electronic VAT special invoice is issued by default
- For urgent handling or invoicing, submit the form from Apply for invoice below the balance card
